Littleton Real Estate and Littleton Community Information
Littleton is situated along the Platte River, ten miles South from downtown Denver.
Littleton strives to retain its small town tradition within the 13.5 square miles and approximate population of 40,000 residents.
There are a variety of traditional and newly- built home styles and since the city has developed most of the useable land, the population remains stable and constant. Littleton is serviced by major arterials, C470 and a new light rail system that links Littleton directly with the heart of Denver city.
Littleton’s school district has one of the lowest dropout rates in the state and seventy five percent of its high school graduates go on to college. It has nationally acclaimed schools, smaller class sizes and over half the teachers have advanced degrees.
With a high regard for education, it was the citizens of Littleton who initiated the formation of the Arapahoe Community College (which now has eight campuses) in 1966. It was also a citizens committee that saved the first log school house, built in 1864 at a cost of $65, which is the oldest surviving school in the state. Don’t miss the 14-acre Littleton Historical Museum, complete with livestock and people demonstrating life as it was 130 years ago.

Facilities in Littleton
Littleton covers much of the vibrant south metro Denver area. The city maintains twenty-six neighborhood parks (every resident lives within a half mile or less to a park or trail), two golf courses, a two-rink enclosed ice arena, two indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a multi-purpose recreation center. Additionally, there are over thirty miles of bike trails through residential neighborhoods plus almost twenty miles of biking or walking trails along the Highline Canal.
The latest addition to Littleton shoping is the Aspen Grove Mall, which inlcudes brand name stores such as Banana Republic, Pottery Barn and others. Of course, Park Meadows Mall is also close by.
Littleton was formerly a village that sprang up around the Rough and Ready Flour Mill owned by a civil engineer from New Hampshire, Mr. Richard Little, in 1860 and was incorporated in 1890.
